MDOT Aeronautics New Listen and Learn Sessions
The Office of Aeronautics is piloting new ‘Listen and Learn’ sessions following the 2025 MAC meetings to bring MDOT Aeronautics’ staff closer to Michigan’s airports. Staff will host a 1 hour in person training session followed by an open round table discussion. Airport managers and employees are encouraged to attend, not only to learn critical information on specific airport specific topics, but also to capitalize on the availability of the MDOT team to listen to current airport challenges and opportunities.

The first session will be held January 30 at the MDOT Office of Aeronautics Auditorium. While a virtual option will be provided, in-person attendance is strongly encouraged. Similar events will be held after each MAC meeting around the state.
1:00 – 2:00pm - Understanding Airport Imaginary Surfaces
o MDOT staff will share information on state and federal approach surfaces, strategies to mitigate obstructions, and success stories from Michigan airports.
2:00pm – 4:00pm - Open Roundtable / One-On-One Discussions
o MDOT staff will be available to discuss any topics of interest from the airport community.

National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) Airport Affiliate Training Program
MDOT Aeronautics has partnered with NASAO to offer access to the Airport Affiliate Training Program, at no cost to Michigan public use airports. This program offers a variety of resources and training opportunities aimed at both General Aviation and Commercial airport managers to increase awareness and access to safety critical notices and emerging trends in aviation. Login and program information was emailed from NASAO last week. Please contact Alicia Morrison at [email protected] if you did not receive this info or have any questions.
