A warm welcome to new subscribers joining from the 2024 Business Awards.

This newsletter will keep you updated with what I've been doing for you in Parliament, the constituency and elsewhere.

I promise to keep it brief, relevant and informative!

This week I've been more than busy with my ministerial duties, engaging with health professionals and people from across the country on the NHS 10 Year Plan, meeting with ministers from devolved governments, and speaking on rare diseases in the House.

It was wonderful this week to meet children from Abbey Hey Primary Academy, as well as presenting my 2024 Business Awards
HIGHLIGHTS
🏆 2024 BUSINESS AWARDS 🏆

Last weekend, it was my honour to present just a few of the Business Awards.

This year there were over 150 businesses nominated, with more than 3000 votes cast, making it one of the busiest years ever.

I'm so proud to have so many strong, independent and local businesses right here in the constituency, and I encourage you all to get out and shop local this Christmas!

🧬 Rare Autoimmune Rheumatic Diseases

On Thursday I addressed the House in Westminster Hall on the issue of rare diseases and what we’re doing to make sure that those that live with rare diseases get the care they need and deserve.

We’re increasing funding for research, improving diagnostic tools, and innovating treatments. We’re expanding specialised care so that complex care is better coordinated and more comprehensive, and finally, we’re making sure that overall awareness of rare diseases is improved.
👨🏻‍🎓 School Visit to Parliament

So good to catch up with some Year 6 pupils from Abbey Hey Primary Academy in Parliament’s brilliant Education Centre, they had some great questions for me.

It’s always nice for children to be able to visit London, and especially Parliament - as it’s their democracy too. I’m looking forward to visiting the school in Gorton in the new year!

Thanks to the staff and parents for making the trip possible
🎄Denton Community College Community Extravaganza

A wonderful time at the Denton Community College Extravaganza, I saw Santa and his reindeer, bought some lovely gifts and some fantastic food.

A lovely event, thank you to everyone that helped organise it!
