Dear Friend,

We hope you had a good long weekend!?

This email contains invitations to head back outdoors with us this Saturday to help do some spring cleanup for the province as part of the Women's Institute roadside cleanup, and then to join us in the first week of June to help dream up a better post-COVID PEI as part of our ongoing Dreaming Forward initiative!?

We're also announcing a Dreaming Forward Design Contest - so if you've got an artistic streak, please read on!

This Saturday, May 23rd - Roadside Cleanup!

The Women's Institute's Annual Roadside Cleanup is an important annual event that helps get our Island in tip-top shape again for the summer. This year, the WI cleanup is happening in a somewhat less formal way that usual, but the idea is the same: get together with others, bring clear plastic garbage bags from home, and leave the full bags by the roadside where they will be picked up by the Department of Transportation on May 25th. Let's pitch in! <[link removed]>

If you'd like to join a Green roadside cleanup crew, please RSVP here. We'll connect you with others in your area to form a lean, Green, roadside cleanup machine!

Note that the starting times of clean-ups will vary depending on the the team - we will connect all local teams by Thursday, May 21st.

If you're willing to serve as a "Clean-up Captain" in your area (designating a meeting place and time for others to join you, and ensuring a supply of bags for volunteers), please email Jordan?
Bober at [email protected].

All others, please RSVP here:?[link removed]

We are so grateful to the 84 people who participated in our inaugural Dreaming Forward forum on May 7th and helped make it a success! Together, 8 breakout groups generated hundreds of ideas during the forum about the post-COVID future we want for PEI.

You told us that you would like more opportunities for discussions on topics of particular interest, and we're excited to announce the first two topical Dreaming Forward forums: on Agriculture and Food Systems <[link removed]>with host Michele Beaton on Tuesday, June 2nd, and on Education <[link removed]> with hosts Karla Bernard and Susan Hartley on Thursday, June 4th. We hope you'll join us for one or both of these forums to share and discuss your ideas on these topics!

Do you have a special interest or expertise in sustainable Transportation, Energy and Infrastructure? Do you dream about how these three things can work together to revolutionize our lives and economies while meeting and exceeding PEI's ambitious climate leadership goals?

If so, Steve Howard, Green Critic for Transportation, Energy and Infrastructure (and MLA for District 22 Summerside-South Drive), would like to work with you!?

If you'd be interested in joining a policy working group on these topics, please send an email introducing yourself to [email protected]. Tell us a bit about your interest and any expertise you bring to the topics of transportation, energy and infrastructure!

Dreaming Forward Design Contest!

Dreaming Forward is going to be the most important activity of the Green Party of PEI for the foreseeable future. Nothing is more important than ensuring that we all emerge from COVID-19 a stronger, fairer and more sustainable island than we were before, and making space for the discussions we need to build that future is core to the Green Party of PEI's mission and purpose.

For that reason, we feel that Dreaming Forward needs its own special, distinctive branding - something that evokes things like forward thinking, innovation and thinking out of the box, grassroots participation, renewal, and hope for a better future.

If you have design skillz, we are inviting you to submit your idea for a Dreaming Forward logo to our design contest!

Please submit your logo idea to [email protected] by Friday, June 5th. We will then circulate the submissions to Green Party members and supporters to vote on their favourites to select the winning design!?

The designer of the winning logo will receive a$100 voucher towards GPPEI Dreaming Forward swag (such as t-shirts or tote bags) bearing your winning design, and ALL contest participants will receive a free Dreaming Forward t-shirt as thanks for your design contribution!

Thanks everyone, and let's keep dreaming forward together!
