Everyone deserves a safe, supported, and healthy start to parenthood. But across the country, expecting parents face inequitable and complicated healthcare systems that make it hard to access even the most essential resources. The impact is devastating: Black women are three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women, according to the CDC.

Health Leads and our partners have made incredible progress to change that. Through the New York Coalition for Doula Access ([link removed]) (NYCDA), we convened local doulas and advocates to secure Medicaid reimbursement for doula services ([link removed]) , making this life-saving care more accessible and affordable for families who need it most.
