Hi team,
Last weekend, more than 500 people came together at a public hearing to support the establishment of Sáttítla National Monument on the sacred lands in the Medicine Lake Highlands in northeastern California.
I was blown away by the energy in the room. The meeting was extended by hours so that everyone’s voice could be heard, and each time someone spoke in support of the monument, the audience erupted into applause.
This impressive turnout speaks to how important this land is to the Pit River Tribe—and it’s why we need President Biden to create the new Sáttítla National Monument across 205,000 acres in the Medicine Lake Highlands.
Will you sign our petition urging Biden to designate Sáttítla National Monument now, before the end of the year?

This land must be permanently protected for future generations of Indigenous people to continue their cultural practices and for all visitors to enjoy this beautiful landscape. And designating lands as a monument won’t only protect tribal history and tradition, it will also help provide clean water for millions of people in Northern California and the San Francisco Bay Area.
Conservation is a critical part of the climate movement. While we fight to lower emissions and beat back Big Oil, we must also do everything we can to preserve natural havens like Sáttítla.
It’s clear from the public hearing that momentum is on our side. With just over a month left in office, it’s time for President Biden to finally establish the Sáttítla National Monument—can you add your name to our petition urging him to act?

Thanks for everything,
