Hi John , Welcome to the latest New Pennsylvania Project newsletter!
As the Delaware Valley Journal publishes: "Scott Presler, the GOP voting registration activist who helped flip several Pennsylvania county voter rolls from Democratic to Republican majority–ultimately helping elect President-elect Donald Trump–now has a new target: the state Supreme Court."
In 2025, voters in Pennsylvania will have the power to elect judges in partisan elections, and to choose to keep or remove justices for the bench in nonpartisan judicial retention elections. In a time when voting rights are under attack and mis/disinformation continues to rise across the country, our work is urgent and necessary.
Our communities must be fully informed about the importance of having fair and independent state and federal courts so that they are compelled to vote and protect their independence. #CourtsMatter #WhenWeVoteWeWin |

Considering a more civically engaged electorate is more likely to turn out to vote in PA’s 2025 judicial elections, Why Courts Matter - Pennsylvania, and us, are hosting:

| The affiliated organization, New PA Project Education Fund (NPPEF), is getting more creative about where to meet Pennsylvanians to discuss why it is important to check their registration status and ensure they can vote in the primary elections. Here they engaged folks waiting at a new Wawa opening in Dauphin County. |

Arizona Judge Dismisses Right-Wing Challenge to State’s Voter Rolls

The dismissal comes after a surge of right-wing lawsuits challenging voter rolls and their maintenance procedures this past election, including in Arizona.” Third Count a Charm: Riggs Wins North Carolina Supreme Court Race
“The North Carolina State Board of Elections (NCSBE) said Tuesday it won’t order a full hand recount for GOP Supreme Court candidate Jefferson Griffin, after a partial recount confirmed incumbent Justice Allison Riggs’s (D) victory.” Iowa Sues Biden Administration Over Noncitizen Voting Data
“Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird (R) and Secretary of State Paul Pate (R) sued President Joe Biden’s administration, alleging that it is refusing to hand over the citizenship status information of over 2,000 registered voters on the state’s voter rolls.”
Missouri Judge Upholds Strict Photo ID Requirements for Voting
“The decision comes just over a year after Beetem held a trial in a lawsuit brought by the League of Women Voters of Missouri, Missouri NAACP and three voters who alleged the burdensome identification rules infringe on the right to vote and the right to equal protection. The groups have already indicated their plan to appeal the decision in the near future.”
