Friend, children have a universal right to a quality education. Every child should have the resources they need to learn and thrive.
That’s why 14 years ago, I partnered with UNICEF USA to create The K.I.N.D. (Kids in Needs of Desks) Fund. This effort supports quality education in Malawi by providing learners with the desks and scholarships they need to learn and build brighter futures and continues to make a real impact for the next generation.
Our work is critical, as more than half of all students in Malawi still do not have a desk or a chair. Instead, they sit on the floor or on the ground — struggling to focus, write legibly and participate in class. K.I.N.D. desks, which come with seating attached make all the difference to ensure that students are comfortable and have what they need to learn.
The challenges facing children are ongoing, but you can support UNICEF in providing relief. With crises mounting, UNICEF is doing everything it takes to reach children around the world who can’t wait any longer for help to come. With a gift of $113, you can send a desk to a classroom and help two to three children write, read and receive a quality education >>
When K.I.N.D. began, we provided 30 desks to a school in Malawi. Over the years, we’ve multiplied our efforts and delivered more than 385,000 desks to schools across the country. We’ve also provided high school scholarships to help nearly 28,650 girls attend secondary school and pursue their dreams.
Through this important work, I’ve had the honor of seeing students transformed in their learning environments after receiving support from K.I.N.D. These desks and scholarships that cover the cost of tuition, uniforms and learning supplies have made a life-changing impact — especially for girls, who face inequity in and outside of the classroom.
With your support today, we can continue providing students with everything they need to keep learning and thriving in the classroom and beyond. Make a gift in support of K.I.N.D. today to help children in Malawi reach their full potential >>
Thank you for helping children,
