Dear John,
It’s with great pride that I write to you today to introduce you to Texas Freedom Network’s incoming Executive Director and President Felicia Martin .
Felicia (she/her) is a queer, third-generation Tejana with deep roots in Texas. She is a proud mom and a dedicated advocate for civil rights, equity, and access. With over 20 years of experience serving organizations focused on community building and empowering BIPOC students, she has dedicated her career to driving systemic change and promoting the rights of underrepresented populations. Felicia's dedication to upholding the freedoms and dignity of every Texan aligns deeply with our mission. The Board of Directors and I have every confidence that she is the right person to lead TFN’s next chapter of civil rights advocacy and reform across Texas.
As a strategic leader and skilled facilitator, Felicia has played pivotal roles in organizations like PeerForward [[link removed]] , EMERGE [[link removed]] , and The Jed Foundation [[link removed]] , where she developed innovative programs, cultivated teams, and secured critical funding to advance their missions.
Throughout her career, Felicia has demonstrated a profound understanding of the challenges faced by underserved communities. She has a proven track record of building power from the ground up, fostering inclusive environments, and implementing data-driven strategies to address complex social issues.
I’ve had the great pleasure of working with TFN for almost 20 years, and I know as much as you do that the work to create progressive change in the Lone Star State never stops. But TFN is truly special. This is not just an organization—it’s a powerful, statewide network of passionate, committed advocates who wake up every day ready to fight for progressive change in Texas.
I’m proud to bring Felicia into this amazing movement we’ve built together. She brings a powerful combination of strategic vision and on-the-ground experience advancing civil rights and equity across the state. Her deep understanding of Texas’ complex social landscape makes her the perfect leader to continue TFN’s legacy of progressive resistance. Come January, she’ll be ready to hit the ground running.
Please join me in welcoming Felicia. You can expect to hear from her in the New Year!
Always yours in the fight,

P.S. As I near the end of my time at TFN, I’m doing everything I can to give the team a head start on fundraising for 2025 (TFN’s 30th anniversary year! 🎉 ) . Can you help set Felicia up for success with a recurring donation? [[link removed]]
