Welcome to the latest edition of Voices of Reason where we’ll recap exclusive news and data featured in our most recent podcast.

This segment dives into PA Women in Politics– Beth Ann Rosica, Education Reporter for Broad + Liberty, Tasliym Morales, School Board Member, and Stacy Whomsley, School Board Director all share insights you don’t want to miss.
Big Names Make News
School Board Member Tasliym Morales explains that because “women are traditionally the caretakers in the family” women who run for political or local offices lack support at home which “creates a big difference in the amount of women who want to run for office.” [Watch]

School Board Director Stacy Whomsley urged that a major reason women are hesitant to enter their local arenas or become civically involved is because of how they are treated once they are elected into office, reflecting that she “was cast aside and diminished and no matter what angle I approached it with my children and family would become twisted and weaponized.” [Watch]

Reporter Beth Ann Rosica emphasizes how despite the stigma women face in positions of political offices “as moms, we know how to recognize compromise and respect while valuing differences and appreciating every child for who they are.” [Watch]

That’s why we launched FactCheckPA: to sort fact from fiction, no matter the source. Follow us for breakdowns of claims from Pennsylvania politicians, interest groups, and media—and send us tips on what to check.
