It’s been a challenging year for so many of us. As wars and genocides across the world work to further divide our global community, we in this global movement for war abolition must address the leading role of the U.S. government in funding and fueling the atrocities we are bearing witness to. And the recent election results don’t portend to make this work any easier.
Not only will more of our tax dollars support the proliferation of war and militarism across the globe, but they will also support it on our own soil — with threats of using the military against protestors and activists, thousands of troops to be deployed to the U.S. Mexican border, and the military used for mass deportations. And all of this while many non-profits could be stripped of their charitable tax status after the passing of the Stop Terror-Financing and Tax Penalties on American Hostages Act (referred to as the "Nonprofit Killer Bill") - the very thing that allows us to accept funding, grants, and donations from individuals that are tax exempt. This will have a crippling impact on many anti-war organizations, especially those calling on the U.S. to stop arming Israel, including yours truly.
In light of these additional barriers that lie ahead — on top of the existing challenge we have with sustainable and diversified fundraising that will keep us afloat for years to come — we’re asking you today to please consider making a tax exempt donation to World BEYOND War while you still can.
We cannot emphasize enough that EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS. When thousands of donors show up and donate even a single dollar, that is thousands of dollars collectively that can support our programs in the U.S, Canada, Latin America, and in countries throughout Africa, with the goal of expanding our teams into additional countries. But we need even more funding to do that.
