Dear John,
Our Flip the Script on Plastics initiative is reshaping the narrative around single-use plastics. We highlight the truth about plastic and are leading the entertainment industry away from disposable plastic products, both on screen and in production. Your support is vital for us to keep doing it. If you contribute today, your donation will be TRIPLE-matched up to our $150,000 year-end goal.
In 2024 we educated TV writers on the issue and showed them firsthand the impacts of plastic production on communities, after which we saw plastic pollution mentioned in the latest season of HBO’s Hacks, alongside a significant increase in the number of reusables on screen in popular film and TV. We also ran a summer film contest, showcasing international filmmakers’ visions of a world free from plastic.
And we have big plans for next year. As we prepare to publish a new report tracking plastic pollution stories in film and TV scripted works, we’ll continue to engage with changemakers in popular culture, telling the truth about plastic at festivals, screenings, and entertainment events. And with the return of our horror short film contest, we will help filmmakers of all levels expose the blight of plastic pollution in thrilling new ways.
One powerful way we’ll solve the plastic pollution crisis is by shifting the narrative around plastic pollution. Please support our efforts by donating now, and your contribution will be TRIPLE-matched through the end of the year. We intend to keep making waves in Hollywood and beyond, telling the truth about plastic pollution, and influencing culture to normalize real
solutions. Thank you for supporting our work.
Onward together,
Amelia Hanson Project Manager Plastic Pollution Coalition
