Congressman Al Green and Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia Host Press Conference to Address Mail Delays and Fatal Shooting After Touring USPS North Houston Regional Processing Center 

(Houston, TX)— On Friday, December 13, 2024, Congressman Al Green and Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia will host a press conference after touring the United States Postal Service (USPS) North Houston Regional Processing Center. During the press conference, they will discuss issues related to mail delivery delays and concern about the upcoming holiday rush, including a test letter and check sent by the Congressman that has not yet been delivered to its intended recipient. They will also discuss the lack of security leading to the recent fatal shooting of a postal service employee at the Missouri City facility on December 9, 2024. The press conference will take place at Iglesia Cristiana Pan De Vida located at 4623 Aldine Bender Road, Houston, Texas 77032 at 12:30 p.m. CT.

“In light of the tragic shooting involving a postal service employee, my heart goes out to their family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. I am deeply saddened by the loss of life and the impact it is having on our community. This incident raises serious concerns about security at our facilities, especially at the South Houston Distribution Center,” stated Congressman Al Green. “I had a visit scheduled at the South Houston facility on this Friday, December 13, 2024. However, out of respect for those grieving, it has been postponed to a later date to be announced. Instead, I and Congresswoman Garcia will meet with high level postal officials, and thereafter hold a press event following the tour at the North Houston Regional Processing Center on Friday, December 13, 2024, to discuss postal issues, including the shooting.”
