Exonerations are exciting moments for us at the Innocence Project. Not only does it mean that one of our clients is reunited with their loved ones, but it also means that the legal process that put them in prison is officially over, and they are finally free.

Just last week, we had our third exoneration of the year. On Dec. 3, 2024, Sandra Hemme was officially exonerated after being wrongfully incarcerated for 43 years. Sandra was the longest-known wrongfully incarcerated woman in American history.

With the help of people like you, our dedicated intake team, and attorneys and legal staff, this year, we were able to help reunite three individuals with their loved ones after decades of wrongful incarceration.
