Texas Values President Jonathan Saenz Interviewed on Newsmax discussing the Merry Christmas Texas Project and More!
|
The Merry Christmas Texas project empowers public schools and individuals to use their constitutional rights to freely acknowledge and educate students about Christmas.
In 2013, Texas Values led the efforts to pass the Merry Christmas Law (H.B. 308) to protect the religious liberty of children, parents, teachers, and school staff to acknowledge Christmas without fear of censorship, persecution, or litigation. The Merry Christmas Texas project was launched shortly after to continue to spread awareness on this First Amendment right.

Last month, the Texas State Board of Education (SBOE) voted 8-7 to approve an English Language Arts curriculum that has references to the Bible, with three (3) Republicans unsuccessfully voting to remove the Bible references. The Bluebonnet Learning materials, which are a part of the new adoption process under HB 1605 and passed in 2023, have been under attack since this summer for their references to different stories from the Bible. Jonathan Saenz President of Texas Values, discusses the decision to call it 'Christmas Break' rather than 'Winter Break' with Special Guests Carroll ISD President Cameron Bryan and Vice President Andrew Yeager! | "State law makes it clear the freedom to talk about and mention Christmas.
People need to remember the first amendment is ‘freedom OF religion’ not ‘freedom FROM religion’…it’s OK to say Christmas, it’s OK to pray! You know our country is upside down when telling people they can say 'Merry Christmas' makes national news!" ~ Cameron Bryan "Kudos to Texas Values, there are a lot of school boards who do not know the law when it comes to celebrating Christmas.
If a school board knew what they could say and the joy they could bring students…why would you choose to be the Grinch and take the joy out of this time of year? When Cam said we made this policy and this practice, people had relief, they knew where they stood." ~ Andrew Yeager |
