I hope this message finds you well. I'm Dr. Shaneva D. McReynolds, and as of October 21, I have been honored to serve as president of this extraordinary organization.

My connection to FAMM began in 2013 when I began fighting to free my husband from a 235-month sentence. We married in 2014 while he was still incarcerated and and his release in 2015, thanks to legislation FAMM passionately advocated, embodies our mission of fair sentencing and second chances.

My relationship to the criminal justice system is complicated and profound—I am not only the wife of a formerly incarcerated person but also a survivor. Sixteen years ago, my first husband was tragically taken from us, and no suspect was ever arrested. Despite this, I believe lengthy prison sentences don't heal families but perpetuate cycles of pain.

This year, FAMM achieved a monumental victory with the passage of the Federal Prison Oversight Act—a bipartisan, historic prison reform legislation.
Additionally, FAMM used our Compassionate Release Clearinghouse to help secure the release of 24 women at FCI Dublin who had experienced shocking sexual abuse at the hands of BOP personnel.

As we look ahead to next year, your support becomes even more crucial. We are:
• Looking into codifying the CARES Act home confinement policy to allow continued access to this highly successful program.
• Launching the first-ever state compassionate release clearinghouses in five states in 2025 to help medically vulnerable and terminally ill individuals return home.
• Expanding our focus to work in 25 states in 2025!
