We can’t ignore what’s happening here, John.
Despite the voters’ decision to break the GOP supermajority, Republican legislators are determined to hold onto control over our state. They just passed a so-called “relief bill” for western NC that actually strips away power from incoming Democratic leaders like Josh while providing no real aid to communities in need.
This is a power grab concealed in a cloak of political pettiness — it ignores the will of the voters, democratic norms, and the needs of people in western NC who deserve our help.

John,
In an outrageous move, North Carolina legislative Republicans just ignored the people of western North Carolina and undermined the voters of our state.
GOP legislators just voted to override Governor Cooper’s veto of their bill that instead of providing relief for western North Carolina, strips away power from incoming popularly-elected Democratic leaders. They care more about their power grab than the people of western North Carolina.
Can you contribute $25 to our fight against the extreme NC GOP?
Just last month, North Carolina voters rejected the far-right’s agenda, elected Democratic leadership, and broke the GOP’s legislative supermajority — that’s why GOP legislators are pushing this bill through in the final weeks before new lawmakers are sworn in.
Let me be clear: Republicans may be attempting to hamstring our administration before we can even take office, but this sham bill won’t stop me from delivering the brighter future our people deserve.
Meanwhile, I’ll work hard to get western North Carolina real relief — and I won’t stop until communities are restored.
I’m relying on you to stand with me now and through the months ahead, John. Donate today to fight back against the GOP’s power grab >>>
