This was a heartbreaking year for people in the Southeastern United States. Entire towns were devastated by Hurricane Helene – which killed over 200 people, left millions without access to power or clean water and destroyed entire communities with historic, gut-wrenching flooding.
But thanks to our generous Americares supporters, we were able to help.
Before we share just some of the work your support helped make possible, we want to share some BIG news: A generous donor from North Carolina has committed to 6X MATCH gifts made through the end of the year, up to $980,000! This rare match opportunity will make 6X the impact for the communities around the world that are counting on our help.
Now, Friend, here’s a look at how your generosity helped us urgently respond to Hurricane Helene. Together, we…
Shipped over 16 tons of medicine and supplies, including 1,300 bottles of infant formula, 3,800 tetanus vaccines and 5,600 hygiene kits:
Partnered with other organizations to install four water purification systems and bring safe drinking water to hard-hit communities in North Carolina:
Awarded more than $1 million in emergency funding to restore access to health care for hurricane survivors in five states:
Americares has seen firsthand the devastating impact of hurricanes on communities and families. We know that access to health care, including mental health support and vital medications, is critical to saving lives and easing suffering in the aftermath of destructive storms. Americares can provide immediate aid and help rebuild health facilities and services, supporting our local partners on the long road to recovery.
But we can’t continue this lifesaving work without you, friend. Survivors of Hurricane Helene still need our support, and we are preparing for increasingly catastrophic hurricanes and other disasters in 2025.
