During the campaign, Elon Musk claimed that he had a plan to slash $2 trillion from the federal budget — but he didn’t say how.

Now the truth is coming out: Elon Musk is coming after Social Security and Medicare.

Musk tipped his hand last week when he retweeted to his 207 million followers a thread from Senator Mike Lee calling for the dismantling of Social Security. Then, congressional leaders confirmed that Social Security and Medicare cuts were on the table after they met with Musk last week.

I warned before the election that this was Musk’s plan. There’s no possible way to cut 30% of the federal budget without major cuts to Social Security and Medicare, but the corporate media didn’t pay attention.

So now we’re sounding the alarm across social media and mobilizing grassroots support to pressure members of Congress to oppose Musk’s plan, but as a grassroots-funded group, we’re counting on your help.

Elon Musk and his so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) co-chair Vivek Ramaswamy are multi-billionaires who couldn’t care less about Social Security or the 70+ million people in the United States who receive some type of Social Security benefit or assistance.

All they care about is giving themselves more tax breaks and government handouts.

Let’s not forget: Musk and Ramaswamy were not elected to their positions. Which means they’re utterly unaccountable. (Musk got his position as DOGE co-chair by spending $277 million to help Trump get elected.)

However, you know who is accountable? Congress.

They will have to face the voters in the midterm elections, and if they go along with Musk’s plans for Social Security — one of the most popular and successful government programs ever created — they will pay a steep political price.

But this fight won’t be easy. Elon Musk is the owner of one of the biggest social media platforms in the world, and he’s turned it into a megaphone for MAGA lies and right-wing propaganda.

He’s also shown a willingness to viciously attack his workers, political opponents, and others — something I’ve experienced firsthand. And he’s already said he will fund primary challenges to any Republican in Congress who doesn’t fall in line with his agenda.
