The Pentagon just failed its 7th consecutive financial audit. Mind you, the Pentagon has a $824 billion annual budget. Right now, they can’t account for 60% of its $4.1 trillion in assets.
That is a mindblowing amount of money that is simply in a bottomless void of bureaucracy and secrecy. And we can bet it’s not being used in the best interest of us.
The Pentagon should be held accountable for its failures and it should NOT continually be given more money until they can say where this is going. The Pentagon is a government agency and that means American taxpayers' money is being used who knows how—even the Pentagon can’t (or won’t) say.
If the average American were to fail this many audits, they’d be charged with hefty fines and face jail time for tax evasion.
Oh yeah…we forgot that in America there’s unlimited money to go to funding weapons, genocide, war, and systems of white supremacy and propaganda.
Time and time again we’re told that abolition, reparations, affordable housing, food, education, clean water, breathable air, and free health care are “too expensive” or “impossible.”
This is a larger symptom of the United States’ legacy of white supremacy. A legacy that has historically screwed over Black people in housing, benefits, access to capital, and so much more.
We’re doing everything we can to flip the script on reparations and other policies that support Black liberation and should be common sense but we need your help.
