Team — Two years ago today, I raised my right hand to be sworn in as the 43rd Mayor of Los Angeles – our home.
Looking back on that day, I remember speaking about moving LA in a new direction by bringing more people inside, making our city safer, and helping small businesses thrive. Two years later, we’ve made a lot of progress, but we still have so much to do — which is why I need your support to continue this work:
- After years of increases, we brought homelessness down in Los Angeles. We’ve nearly doubled the number of Angelenos moved into permanent housing since I was sworn in and we brought thousands more Angelenos inside over the past year than in 2022. Overall street homelessness is down by 10 percent. Now, we must keep up the momentum.
- By cutting red tape, we have cut approval times for housing for working families by more than 70%.
- Our work with LAPD and community safety partners helped drive down the number of homicides and shooting victims more than 25%, and gang-related shootings down by more than 50%. Applications to join LAPD have hit a 4-year high, and I am excited to build on this foundation to keep making LA safer with the new police chief I appointed.
- We’ve focused on safety and cleanliness to deliver tens-of-thousands more city services like graffiti and bulky item removals in each of the two years I’ve been in office.
- When bureaucracy threatened the city’s streamlined program to enable outdoor restaurant dining, we stepped in to save it and make it permanent – to help small businesses grow, hire Angelenos and add to our neighborhoods.
Together, we reopened the 10 freeway in 10 days, brought together hundreds of Angelenos to celebrate the first Dodgers championship parade since 1988 and carried the Olympic flag to City Hall from Paris.
The greatest honor of my life has been serving you as your Mayor. But we can only continue making the change our city needs with the help of grassroots supporters like you.
As we mark our first two years working together for LA, will you chip in to help me continue delivering change for Los Angeles?
