In 2023, the U.S. Supreme Court stripped away protections from millions of acres of wetlands across the country. This loss paves the way for them to be easily polluted or destroyed.

Without federal protection, state laws will determine the future of many wetlands. Some states may have no protection at all for many of their wetlands, potentially leaving them completely vulnerable to development and pollution. But with your support, EDF can protect and restore these valuable ecosystems.

John, will you support our efforts to restore wetlands — along with EDF’s broader work stabilizing the climate and protecting vulnerable ecosystems — by donating today?

Your gift by year-end will go 3X as far with the $2-for-$1 match from two EDF donors.

As the impacts from climate change continue to threaten lives, livelihoods and Earth itself, it’s clear we need to protect the ecosystems that stabilize our climate and protect communities from flooding.

That's why because of your support we're able to help rebuild the wetlands of the Mississippi River Delta in one of the largest ecosystem restoration and climate resilience projects ever attempted.

Wetlands, like marshes, lowlands, river edges and wet meadows, are incredibly productive ecosystems that help:

arrow bullet Clean our water by filtering out dangerous pollutants before they enter our rivers and streams.

arrow bullet Shelter up to 40% of the world’s species, including 75% of all commercially harvested fish and shellfish species in the United States.

arrow bullet Protect communities from flooding, storing as much as 1.5 million gallons of flood water.

arrow bullet Capture and store carbon, slowing climate change.

EDF has ramped up efforts to restore wetland protections across the country by educating the public and engaging with decision-makers. For example, in my home state of Iowa, EDF and partner groups are working on natural solutions to manage flood risks while restoring wetlands and improving water quality.

Because of members like you and your generous support, we’re able to keep this critical work moving forward. Please donate today to triple your impact to fight climate change and protect vulnerable ecosystems.

John, with new challenges ahead, we need you with us as we fight to defend our environment.

Thank you for standing with us,
