Dear Members of the ISI Family,

It is with deep sorrow that we inform you of the passing of our dear friend and esteemed historian, Lee Edwards. Lee was a cherished member of our community, whose unwavering dedication, profound knowledge, and love for our nation's history left an enduring impact on all of us.

Lee was a pillar of strength—a devoted scholar, a passionate educator, and a fervent advocate for preserving the rich tapestry of our nation's past. His contributions to the Intercollegiate Studies Institute were invaluable, and his legacy will be felt for generations to come.

Reflecting on Lee's remarkable legacy, John A. Burtka IV, our President and CEO, noted, “Lee always considered ISI to be one of America's indispensable institutions. In reality, he was ISI's indispensable man. He was involved with the institute from the beginning and wrote a fifty-year history of ISI, Educating for Liberty, which I still reference today for inspiration. He was giant of the conservative movement, and he will be greatly missed. May his memory be eternal!”

Lee’s dedication to uncovering and preserving our nation's founding principles was evident in every lecture he gave, every article he wrote, and every student he mentored. His generosity in sharing his knowledge has created an enduring impact, fostering a space where ideas flourish and minds grow.

Many of us were privileged to share moments of wisdom and camaraderie with Lee. His presence at our events, insightful commentary, and genuine warmth made him a beloved figure within the ISI family.

In this special video, Lee tells the story of ISI as only our own historian could, capturing the essence of our mission and the spirit of our community. His storytelling brings to life the rich history and enduring values of ISI, serving as a testament to his profound impact on our institute.
