Honoring Tennessee's Forgotten History

Last month, TPL partnered with Chattanooga Design Studio for the CIVIQ
speaker event featuring landscape architect Thomas Woltz, who
discussed his vision for restoring a historic site known as "the
Field." The largely overgrown site holds the unmarked graves of
hundreds of people who couldn't afford burial, including many Black
Chattanoogans. This event marked the launch of the major restoration
project.

12 books about nature, catching the attention of President Theodore
Roosevelt. In 1903, Muir guided the president on a camping trip
through Yosemite. Inspired by the experience, Roosevelt set aside more
than 230 million acres of public land-an area larger than
Texas-that included five national parks and 18 national
