It’s Pennsylvania Lt. Governor Austin Davis –
I was just elected to serve as the next Chair of the Democratic Lt. Governors Association — do you have a moment to let me introduce myself?
I was born and raised in Pennsylvania, the son of a union bus driver and a hairdresser. My dad used to come home and tell me that our roads and bridges were in disrepair. When his calls for action went unanswered by those in power, I learned from an early age the impact our leadership can have on our everyday lives.
Now, I’m the youngest Lt. Governor in America, and I make it a priority to listen to the hardworking folks like my dad who have been ignored for too long. I’ve seen what a difference that makes in my advocacy, and my colleagues’. Democratic lieutenant governors serve as the second in command for more than half the country’s population. We serve as a partner to our governors, a link to our legislatures, and a channel to our communities.
As we work to rebuild the Democratic brand, delivering for our constituents must be the top priority. That’s why representation of all Americans' identities and lived experiences is so important; we lift up the voices and issues of folks who have long felt forgotten. I’m proud to say that over half of our Democratic Lt. Governors are women and people of color — we truly represent the future of America and the Democratic Party.
Together, we can build a better future for this generation and future generations to come. But it will take all of us coming together. I hope I can count on your support.
Thank you,
Austin Davis
P.S. Our plans for the DLGA in 2025 will require grassroots support like yours. So if you’d like to help us start the year strong, will you make a quick contribution of $7 or $25 to the DLGA?
