New York City passed a groundbreaking new ban on marijuana drug testing as condition of employment – the first of its kind in the country!
The Drug Policy Alliance worked with the New York City Council and our #MarijuanaJustice allies on a legislative package that addresses multiple facets of marijuana criminalization- including removing marijuana as a violation of probation. Although these shifts are focused at the municipal level, they have the potential to impact hiring practices across the country. The Baltimore Council is already considering a similar bill to ban marijuana testing for employment in city jobs.
New York City is the example. Soon, more will follow.
