The odds seemed insurmountable.
An industry with trillions of dollars to spend. Ongoing, complex policy battles in Congress. And some of the most powerful corporations in the world standing against you.
Despite it all, you helped to ease the suffering of millions of animals this year. Your achievements are nothing short of heroic. In 2024, thank you for helping to make the impossible possible.
You gave millions of animals better lives. ❤️
Hilton. Wagamama. Carl’s Jr./Hardee’s. These are just a few of the corporations you successfully pressured to make meaningful progress for hens. You convinced one of the largest egg users in the world, Kewpie Corporation, to start to phase out cruel cages in Asia—progress that we previously thought impossible. Your efforts this year could ultimately allow over 65 million hens to finally spread their wings.
You fought for justice for all beings. ⚖️
This year, you helped advocates successfully pass first-of-their-kind laws to protect octopuses in California and Washington state—protecting these remarkable beings from underwater factory farms. And as the pig industry has continued fighting to overturn critical animal protection laws, supporters like you have been flooding legislators with calls and emails all year long. The message is clear: We won’t back down until every animal has been spared from life in a cage.
You added your voice to a global movement. 🌏
Across countries, cultures, and languages, it’s clear that humans agree: animals deserve to live free from abuse. From the bold advocates featured in our first-ever documentary film, to the Open Wing Alliance’s global summits in Kenya and beyond, people from all walks of life are coming together to fight for animals.
This movement is made of people like you—people who make time in their busy lives to help create a kinder future for all. Thank you for being a hero for the animals.
With deep gratitude,

P.S. One more thing. In 2025, we’ll celebrate our 20th anniversary—two decades of fighting for a kinder world. I’m reflecting on how much work still lies ahead, as we build the compassionate world we envision. But I hope you take a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come, for the animals. ❤️
