Friend,

The House of Representatives has handed Donald Trump a weapon to take down
any organization that he deems to be a challenge to his autocratic power.

MAGA Republicans (and 15 Democrats!) voted to pass HR 9495, which is being
termed the “Nonprofit Killer” bill.(1) This bill would give Trump’s
administration unilateral power to strip nonprofit status from an
organization, just by accusing it of “supporting terrorism."(2)

With Trump returning to office in just weeks, it’s likely that he will use
this legislation to punish political enemies, silence dissent, and shut
down organizations that support communities facing greater threats under
his administration. That’s why we’ve joined with hundreds of advocacy
organizations to demand that the Senate vote down HR 9495.

on the “Nonprofit Killer” bill. Will you add your name?

Trump has made no secret of his desire to take down anyone who dissents
against him.

California is a special target for him, and organizations that support
abortion rights, labor unions, LGBTQ+ rights, and more will be in his
sights.

The bill gives the Treasury Department unchecked power without due process
or even evidence. But if the outcry is strong enough, the Senate won’t
have the 60 votes it needs to pass it when it comes to the floor.

[ [link removed] ]Will you sign on now to tell the Senate to reject HR 9495?

Thank you for being with us.
