Dear reader,
Did you know that even before the current pandemic, between 10 and 20 percent of high school seniors who were accepted to college and intended to go weren’t showing up for the first day of classes? And now, with so much uncertainty about whether college campuses can open this fall, concerns about that so-called “summer melt” are growing, along with students’ health fears and economic worries.
Amid questions about the value of traditional residential higher education, colleges have been forced to innovate quickly, while students themselves are replicating some of what makes the experience so unique – by DIY-ing campus life. We’ll keep bringing you these stories and answering your education questions, so please, stay in touch.
