The House just passed a bill with major pro-Israel provisions. The annual National Defense Authorization Act authorizes the Pentagon to spend money on critical programs, including $500 million for U.S.-Israel missile defense programs like Iron Dome, David’s Sling and Arrow.
Overall, the bill includes more than $627 million in authorizations for critical U.S.-Israel programs. Below my signature is an overview of the broad array of initiatives in the bill that we lobbied for.
These vital AIPAC-backed provisions are a powerful and important demonstration of steadfast American support for the Jewish state. The U.S. and Israel must work together to ensure this moment of great uncertainty in the Middle East can become a moment of opportunity to weaken our adversaries, strengthen our shared security, and expand peace and normalization across the region.
These important achievements would not have happened without strong relationships with many pro-Israel Democrats and Republicans in Congress. The Senate is expected to pass the bill next week, and then it will be sent to the president's desk.
Israelis are safer today because of our work together over many years. I am so grateful to be partners in our shared mission to help keep Israel safe — today and for years and decades to come.
Thank you for your commitment to AIPAC. I look forward to updating you again with additional achievements on Capitol Hill.
Sincerely,
Cory Meyer
Director of Communications
