"[Mass Deportation] starts January 21, and we're going to start right here in Chicago, Illinois."
John — I am disgusted. This is what Trump's border czar, Tom Homan, had to say while visiting our district earlier this week.
Let me be clear: this type of dehumanizing and dangerous policy the Trump administration plans on using to target immigrants sets a dangerous precedent that puts us all at risk. Today it is immigrants, but we already know they will not stop there.
In his most recent interviews, Trump has proposed ending birthright citizenship altogether — which would give him the sole power to decide who is American and who is not.
Through all of this, John, he's talking about people like my parents, people like my husband, and people like me. And it stresses how important and difficult the fight against MAGA extremists like this will be after January 20.
Don't misunderstand me: this doesn't deter me from my fight for humane and comprehensive immigration reform. In fact, I'm more committed than ever to standing up against the right's attacks against immigrants, trans folks, women and anyone else whose humanity is questioned and challenged by this administration.
But this does paint a troubling and uncertain picture of the future. While I want to keep fighting, grassroots support is key to maintaining our team's efforts. As we get closer to 2025, will you join Team Delia with a donation today and help us fight back against this harmful administration?
