Dear John,

Last week, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a coronavirus stimulus package that would be devastating for farmed animals. Now it’s up to the Senate to stop it.

This proposal, the HEROES Act, raises two major concerns:

1. It asks for funding to pay for horrific on-farm animal slaughter, which often includes slow suffocation of birds and slamming piglets headfirst into the ground.

2. It fails to mandate slower slaughter-line speeds, which it must to stop the spread of COVID-19 and protect workers, consumers, and animals.

Stimulus funds should not be used for animal abuse. Urge your senators to vote against the HEROES Act or seek amendments to protect farmed animals.

Thank you for speaking up.
