Yesterday, Donald Trump announced that he has been taking hydroxychloroquine because he thinks it will protect him from being infected with the coronavirus.

To be absolutely clear:

Hydroxychloroquine has not been shown to be effective in preventing or treating COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, and is known to have severe — potentially even fatal — side effects.

Also, anyone taking hydroxychloroquine because they think it will protect them from the coronavirus could reduce the supply of the medication available to patients suffering from conditions related to arthritis or malaria for which its use has been approved.

Medical experts warning that hydroxychloroquine should not be used, outside of hospital or research settings, to prevent or treat coronavirus infection include:
But Fox News windbags like Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham — who pretty much spoonfeed Donald Trump the only “news” he consumes — have been touting hydroxychloroquine as some kind of coronavirus cure-all.

Tell Donald Trump:

Stop taking hydroxychloroquine. It has not been shown to prevent coronavirus infection or approved for use in relation to coronavirus. And it can have severe or even fatal side effects.

As president, you must set a better example.

Thanks for taking action.

Stay safe.
