No description of the coronavirus is more misleading than calling it “the great equalizer.”
The horrific truth is that Native Americans, Latinos, and African-Americans are dying at much higher rates than white people.
And as 36.5 million Americans are out of work and struggling to pay the bills, 8 billionaires have seen their wealth grow by more than a billion dollars each during this crisis that’s left so many with so little.

Any rush to “open the economy” is really about forcing working people back into harm’s way while the rich and affluent shelter in place on their yachts and multimillion-dollar mansions — continuing to profit from this crisis.
We are all weathering the same storm, but we are not all in the same boat.
This is a tale of two pandemics. There is nothing “equal” about it.
