In case you aren’t familiar with Congressman Ritchie Torres (D-NY), we apologize in advance.

Despite claiming to be a progressive, Congressman Torres has made a name for himself as Congress’s loudest voice in support of Israel’s war against the people of Gaza.

Unlike some of his Pro-Israel colleagues in the House Progressive Caucus who have atleast paid lip service to the notion that Israel should minimize killing innocent Palestinian civilians. Torres’ approach to the war in Gaza has been devoid of even the appearance of empathy claiming that Israel is justified in killing civilians.

Amidst a wave of public outcry calling for him to leave the House Progressive Caucus, Torres left the Caucus last February.

This week the Congressman blocked our account on Twitter. Clearly our calls for his fellow pro-Israel colleagues to follow suit and leave the House Progressive Caucus struck a nerve.

Bullying has no place in the classroom or workplace but when it comes to our members of Congress there is absolutely a place for it.

Fake progressives like Torres that cheer on Israel’s genocide, or even worse, those who vote on every pro-Gaza war piece of legislation that comes across their desk and try to hide it from their constituents, need to be bullied out of the House Progressive Caucus and removed from office - they deserve no quarter.

Members of Congress should live in constant fear of career ending backlash from their constituents - which is why we are working to name and shame the progressives who take AIPAC money, vote to continue Israel’s gruesome war of extermination on Gaza, and then have the nerve to call themselves “progressive.”
