The Federal Bureau of Investigation is not supposed to be a tool of retribution
and oppression to be wielded at the whims of whoever happens to be in the White
House.
That’s why FBI directors are appointed for ten-year terms — specifically to
avoid politicization of the bureau.
But current FBI Director Christopher Wray — who has almost two years left in his
ten-year term — just announced that he intends to resign shortly.
Even though Wray was appointed by Donald Trump himself, Trump now wants to put a
MAGA extremist and “deep state” conspiracist named Kash Patel in charge of the
FBI. As we’ve noted in previous emails to you this week, Patel has been brazen
in announcing his intention to weaponize the FBI against government officials,
journalists, nonprofit groups, and the American people.
Whatever one might think of the FBI — and its undeniable record of
discrimination, corruption, and brutality — the agency does have a significant
role in maintaining the rule of law.
Control of something as powerful as the FBI simply must not be willingly handed
over to another unhinged Trump sycophant.
To current FBI Director Christopher Wray:

Resigning before the end of your term would aid and abet Donald Trump’s plot to
weaponize the FBI. Do not resign.
