2024 True Texan Scholarship Winners Announced!
Congratulations to our 2024 scholarship winners! Texas high school students were asked to submit an essay answering at least 3 of the following questions:
- What is your personal viewpoint of the current political climate in the USA and the direction you think the country is headed?
- What is your viewpoint for the potential for WWIII, and how do you think it would affect you personally?
- What is your viewpoint on mandatory conscription in the USA, should WWIII escalate to directly involve the USA?
- How physically secure do you think the continental US is, should a major WWIII event take place outside our borders?
- Who do you blame for the escalation of events between NATO/USA and Russia, China, and Iran?
- The current administration has had an open border policy in place for the last 3 years. What do you think the security repercussions are of having had this policy in place that has allowed millions of unvetted illegals into the USA, should there be a major escalation of WWIII?
- How likely do you think the prospect is for the use of nuclear weapons, should events continue to escalate?
- What is your opinion of the current readiness state of the US Military, should we have to confront another foreign country?
We had a lot of great submissions this year, and it was really, really difficult to choose the best. But we did! And the winners are… FIRST PLACE: Myles Peeler, a sophomore homeschooler from Tarrant County. This is Myles’s 2nd time to place in our scholarship essay contest. Last year he took 2nd place. Read his essay here. Myles has earned 1/10 oz gold coin + $500 + 3 tickets to attend our Christmas party on Dec 12 in Grapevine. SECOND PLACE: Jake Williams, a freshman homeschooler from Collin County. This is Jake’s 2nd time to enter as well. The first time, he was too young to win, but he’d ranked very high! Read his essay here. Jake has earned 4 Silver Rounds from the Texas Revolution Series (2020, 2021, 2022, 2023) + $250 + 3 tickets to attend our Christmas party on Dec 12 in Grapevine. THIRD PLACE: We just couldn’t decide, so we’ve got a tie for 3rd place! Congrats to Ily Johnston, a senior from Williamson County, and Danaka Himes, a junior from our Bay Area location. These students will split the 3rd prize, which is a 1898 US Morgan silver dollar + 1992 US Peace dollar + $250 + tickets to attend our Christmas party on Dec 12 in Grapevine. All other entries received 3 tickets to our Christmas party. The winners will receive their awards at the January meetings for their local TTP satellites. Thank you to all those who entered.
