Begin Forwarded Message from Valerie Foushee:

John,

This Saturday, December 14, will mark 12 years since the Sandy Hook massacre.

On that fateful day, 20 children between the ages of six and seven years old were tragically killed in their own classrooms — along with 6 adult staff members.

Had those 12 girls and 8 boys’ futures not been taken away, they would now be between 18 and 19 years old. They would have graduated high school, voted in their first elections, started college, and followed their path into adulthood. But, they were robbed of these opportunities.

In the 12 years since the Sandy Hook massacre, our nation has only witnessed further tragedies as a result of gun violence. Our government has systemically failed to enact critical gun violence prevention laws — leading to innumerable loss of life and preventable heartache for their loved ones.

The passage of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act was a step in the right direction. But, it still isn’t enough. We need to fight for tighter gun laws and regulations to ensure no more communities befall the same fate as Sandy Hook, Robb Elementary School, Parkland High School, and so many others. We need immediate, urgent action to honor the many souls lost to gun violence. Please, John, join me in fighting for a future free of gun violence by adding your name to the petition:

Enough is enough.
