Business and Human Rights Resource Centre and Equidem published a report examining labor rights for migrant workers in the Gulf region’s renewable energy sector. The analysis establishes the sector is falling short in identifying and mitigating worker rights risks, and embedding migrant worker rights in business operations is non-negotiable. 

Institute of Development Studies launched their updated Participatory Methods platform featuring methodologies, case studies, and other resources to inspire those looking to learn more about participatory research methods.

Migrant-Rights. org have been named the recipient of the 2024 Human Rights and Business Award at the United Nations Forum on Business and Human Rights. This award recognizes organizations for outstanding work in addressing the impact of human rights on business. They received the award for their work in protecting migrant workers’ rights in the Gulf Cooperation Countries. 

HU co-sponsored this year's Human Rights Defender Awards at the State Department, which recognizes eight individuals who have demonstrated leadership and courage in promoting human rights and fundamental freedoms around the world. 

Migrant-Rights. org Editor-at-Large and Director of Projects, Vani Saraswathi wrote this piece in openDemocracy, discussing the exploitation of workers under the Kafala system in Gulf countries. 

Fairsquare released a report examining FIFA’s human rights violations despite promised reforms. Drawing on years of research and advocacy, as well as evidence from the 2022 World Cup, the report reveals how structural issues within FIFA have limited meaningful reform. The analysis shows why external oversight might be a necessary step in creating real change.
