John - I was just elected as Co-Chair of the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee (DPCC), making me the first Gen Z member of Congressional leadership!

You might be wondering what this even means, so let me explain:

The DPCC is House Democrats’ messaging and policy arm – it’s how we figure out the best way to communicate our vision for the future of our country.

And now that we’re headed towards another Trump presidency, we’ll need to get more creative. As Co-Chair, I’m going to find new ways to ensure Democrats’ message reaches as many people as possible in this new political landscape – especially young people.

I won’t lie, it’s going to be an uphill battle. A lot of young people are feeling hopeless, wary, or are even tuning out completely. We’re also losing support from communities that have traditionally supported Democrats. But this is exactly why I’m up for the challenge.

As the only member of Gen Z in Congress, I know how to talk to young people – I’m closer in age to them than I am to most of my colleagues in Congress.

It’s going to take a new generation of leadership to bring in a new generation of Democratic support. So even though what lies ahead won’t be easy, I’m hopeful, and I’m ready for this fight.
