Dear John,

The African chapters of World BEYOND War have organized the second “Imagine Africa Beyond War” regional Peace Conference, held virtually on November 15 and 16, 2024. At the end of the conference, the chapters called the Governments of the United States of America, France, Russia, Ukraine, China, Japan, Germany, Spain, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, to withdraw their troops and close their bases wherever they are in Africa, to stop supplying weapons and military support.

Hand off Sudan

In the war in Sudan, The United Arab Emirates is supplying ammunition to the Rapid Support Forces; Iran is supplying drones to the Sudanese Armed Forces; Russia and Ukraine, because of their conflict, keep the war going with their weapons, military equipment and troops.

During remarks on the Senate floor Thursday December 5, 2024, Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) called on the Biden Administration to stop sending weapons to the United Arab Emirates amid reports that their weapons are being transferred to Rapid Support Forces in the Sudanese Civil War.

Africans are very concerned by this situation, which seriously compromises Africa’s chances of aspiring to a peaceful future. One action needed today for the return of peace in Sudan is to sign the petition.

For a world beyond war,

Guy Feugap
