APPG for London Winter Reception

The All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for London hosted its Winter Reception in the House of Commons last week. The event, sponsored by BusinessLDN, Ballymore and Gatwick Airport, was attended by London MPs, peers, business leaders, council leaders, city hall officials and third sector organisations.

 

The APPG for London is a forum for MPs and Peers to work together on a cross-party basis to strengthen the capital's voice in Parliament. The group’s purpose is to promote the capital in the interests of all Londoners.

 

London Councils provides the secretariat to the group on behalf of London government, including the Mayor of London and the London Assembly.

 

Attendees heard from APPG co-Chairs Munira Wilson MP and Florence Eshalomi MP, London Councils Chair, Cllr Claire Holland, BusinessLDN Deputy Chief Executive, Muniya Barua, as well as keynote speaker and former Chair of London Councils, Georgia Gould MP, Parliamentary Secretary in the Cabinet Office.

London HIV Prevention Programme

The London HIV Prevention Programme (LHPP) aims to raise awareness of HIV prevention methods. They are currently conducting a survey to find out more about the  needs of different communities in London contribute to help shape future HIV prevention services.


If you are a resident of London, or work or study in London; identify as Black, including Black African, Black Caribbean, or Black British and mixed / multiple ethnic groups and are aged 16 or older, you are invited to take the survey here.

New Lambeth Chief Executive

Lambeth Council’s Appointments Committee has recommended that Ian Davis be appointed as the council’s new Chief Executive, subject to the approval of Full Council in January. Ian Davis is currently the Chief Executive of Enfield Council, having served in that role since 2017.

If you are a Freedom Pass user and you received an email or a letter asking you to confirm your current address, please note that the deadline to respond to the Freedom Pass address review has now passed. If you received an email or a letter and have not yet responded, your Freedom Pass may be cancelled.


If you are still eligible for the Freedom Pass scheme and your permanent sole or principal address is within a London borough, please send proof of address to:

Once your address has been verified a new pass will be posted to you, at a cost of £14, because your current card may have been cancelled.
