Donald Trump just declared that on his first day back in office, he would pardon the January 6 rioters — the same people who attacked the Capitol, beat law enforcement officers, and tried to overturn a free and fair election.

As if that weren’t horrifying enough, he also vowed to jail members of the House Select Committee who investigated the insurrection.

Think about that. Trump is promising to reward violent insurrectionists and punish those who sought the truth.

This is a clear blueprint for dismantling our democracy and replacing it with authoritarian rule.

We need to talk about this. And here’s why:

If we stay silent, if we ignore these threats, Trump and his MAGA allies will take it as a green light to normalize violence, undermine justice, and silence anyone who stands in their way.
