On Tuesday, I stepped down as chair of the Democratic Lieutenant Governors Association and passed the torch to my friend, Lt. Governor Austin Davis of Pennsylvania. I’m going to e-introduce you two at the end of this email — but first, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on the past year’s work.
I’d like to set the stage: As the newest national Democratic committee, the DLGA went into 2024 with far less resources than many other party organizations. But that didn’t stop us.
Not only did we beat far-right extremist candidates in Washington, Oregon, and Delaware, we also flipped North Carolina’s lt. governor seat from red to blue for the first time since 2008!
After a disastrous four years of Mark Robinson (yes, the self-proclaimed “Black Nazi”), I’m proud that the DLGA played a pivotal role in restoring integrity back to the office of the lieutenant governor. Not only that — we flipped the lt. governor’s seat blue despite Donald Trump winning North Carolina.
In 2024 the DLGA proved that you should never underestimate an underdog. Going into the new year, we’re committed to taking on Project 2025 and the Trump Agenda in every state — but we need your help. Will you chip in $7 before our huge End-of-Year Fundraising Deadline on December 31 to help us start mobilizing now?
I’m incredibly proud of the work we did this year, and I’m looking forward to seeing what the DLGA accomplishes next. As I mentioned, my friend and colleague Austin Davis is taking over as chair, and I’m confident he’s the right person to lead the DLGA going in 2025.
Born-and-raised in Pennsylvania, Austin is an outspoken and proven advocate in the movement to end gun violence whose work has helped secure millions for community-based programs proven to decrease violence.
He’s also no stranger to breaking barriers: Austin is not only the first Black lt. governor of Pennsylvania, but the youngest elected in American history!
The DLGA has become known for both our work to end gun violence and for being the most diverse party committee breaking glass ceilings in politics, so Austin’s knowledge and experience were a natural fit. Will you join me in helping Austin start his chairmanship strong by chipping in $7 today to the DLGA?
If you've stored your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation to the DLGA will be processed immediately. |
Thank you for your support during my term as chair. I look forward to staying in touch.
Sincerely,
Peggy Flanagan
Lt. Governor of Minnesota
