Friend, This is one of the most serious, and most disturbing, threats to Christians in public life . . . yet most Christians in America don't know anything about it! The last, and strongest, line of legal defense for Christians in the United States may soon be destroyed by ideological activists, with a regulatory change being considered in ALL 50 states. That could make critical legal victories for Americans of faith—like protection of personal prayer without getting fired, protection of moral conscience so you can't be forced to dispense abortion-inducing drugs, and even protection of students forming a Christian student club—IMPOSSIBLE to pursue . . . . . . and leave Christians and Americans of faith, alongside religious ministries, nonprofits, and schools, without ANY legal defense when they wrongly and unconstitutionally face threats or punishment for their biblical values! Friend, Christian Legal Society, a fellowship, ministry, and legal defense organization since 1961, is leading the fight to protect Christian attorneys and all Americans of faith, state by state. Against a well-organized, well-funded opposition, we're counting on the support of generous Americans of faith like you to stand with us. Would you consider a gift of $25, $50, $75, $100, $250, or even $500 to help support Christian Legal Society in this critical work? |
For those who don't work in law offices, the rule change I'm discussing may sound boring or unremarkable: it's known as Model Rule 8.4(g) from the American Bar Association. But its impact has devastating real-world consequences for Christian attorneys and all Americans of faith, as the silencing and punishment of Christian attorneys—and the faithful Americans they would otherwise defend—seems to be the sole goal of this rule change. Without any examples of why it's needed . . . without any response to the 400+ comments and letters of concern submitted by all attorneys concerned with free speech, the American Bar Association offered no response to rightful concerns that radical activists could use this to: - discourage or punish attorneys from sharing political, social, or religious viewpoints that are outside the current political orthodoxy (today, that's typically defined as "progressive" or "Woke");
- stop attorneys from volunteering at their churches, sitting on church boards, or serving schools they've gone to, if those schools are Christian or otherwise religious;
- prevent attorneys from serving in Christian ministries, no matter how much good work those ministries do in their communities; and
- put an end to Christian attorneys doing pro bono work to defend religious freedom on behalf of Christian ministries, nonprofits, or schools that proudly proclaim their commitment to biblical values!
Friend, there is still time to stop this rule from taking root in America . . . but it requires a 50-state strategy and a major investment of time, talent, and legal work. Christian Legal Society has led the charge on this important issue since it was first raised in 2015. But to make sure we WIN this fight—and preserve religious freedom and protection for Christian attorneys and, by extension, all Americans of faith—I'm counting on your support. Can I count on your generous gift of $25, $50, $75, $100, $250, or even $500 to help Christian Legal Society save these critical protections for Christian attorneys . . . and every ministry, nonprofit, or believer that those same attorneys would defend? |
Since 1961, Christian Legal Society has been a fellowship of Christians dedicated to serving Jesus Christ through the practice and study of law, the defense of religious freedom and life, and the provision of legal aid to the needy. And for nearly 50 years, Christian Legal Society's Center for Law & Religious Freedom, which is spearheading the response to this proposed rule change, has defended and advanced all Americans' inalienable rights to religious freedom and life in the public square. No other organization is leading the charge to defend Christian attorneys and all Americans of faith on this critical issue like Christian Legal Society. That's why I encourage you—and hope—that you'll make your most generous gift of $25, $50, $75, $100, $250, $500, or more right now to help Christian Legal Society WIN critical victories in the battles still to come. Thank you for your support and for your prayerful consideration. David Nammo Executive Director & CEO Christian Legal Society |
