** FROM U.S SENATE CAMPAIGN TO COVID RESPONSE

Dear Supporter,

Thank you again for your support of my U.S Senate campaign in Montana. A few days after I stepped out of the race to support Governor Bullock, our country declared a public health emergency in response to COVID-19.

Together, we built our campaign for Senate because we believed every Montana family deserves a shot at a healthy life. And while our campaign may have ended, our belief and work has not. Today I am excited to announce the launch of We Are Montana, a non-profit advocacy organization that will serve as a public health information and training hub for rural and Native leaders across Montana.

I am launching this organization because when COVID-19 does reach our rural populations, we need to make sure they are prepared. The lack of accessible and affordable care, the burden of pre-existing conditions, and the distance to medical care can overwhelm clinics and spell disaster for Montana's rural populations.

We Are Montana strengthens public health leadership across the state by supporting rising leaders, hosting public health trainings for community and health leaders, and promoting local and statewide candidates who prioritize accessible and affordable health care.

Throughout my career, from the State Department to my work with First Ladies, I have seen that the best solutions are driven by local leaders. We Are Montana builds on our Senate campaign commitment to ‘bring all Montanans' voices to the table’, and is already partnering with rural and Native leaders to prepare their communities for COVID outbreaks or resurgence, and to strengthen public health capacity longer term.
