Listen, you’ve heard me talk many times about how important it is to hold on to our House Majority. And I don’t have to tell you how vital it is to elect Joe Biden and restore leadership and decency to the White House.

But if we’re going to really turn the page in 2021 and pass the progressive legislation we need to rebuild our country and our economy as we fight the coronavirus pandemic, it’s not enough to just defend our House Democratic Majority in 2020: we have to flip the Senate.

Taking back the Senate from Mitch McConnnell is in reach this November, and in a great sign for our chances, the list of Republican seats in trouble keeps growing, and one of the seats that’s looking better and better is in Iowa where Democrat Theresa Greenfield is taking on Joni Ernst.

This is a race that recent polls have found neck and neck, and a recent poll from Public Policy Polling found Joni Ernst’s lead “evaporating.”

Theresa has now pulled within just one point of Joni Ernst, meaning if she has the resources she needs, she’s in a great spot to win in November.

Because this race could decide the fate of Senate control, McConnell and his dark money network are spending big bucks in Iowa: McConnell’s super PAC has already pledged over $12 million to keep this seat – their second-largest investment in the country.

I know Theresa will do what’s right for the people of Iowa and the rest of the country. Theresa grew up working on her family’s farm where she learned all about hard work. As a young mother, when her first husband was tragically killed in an accident, she raised her two children with help from Social Security survivor benefits, and she’s committed to protecting Social Security for everyone. Theresa will be a great Senator who will stand up for working families and defend our health care, all the things Joni Ernst has simply failed to do in her five years in Washington.

Let’s not just hold the Democratic House majority this November; let’s flip this critical Iowa seat and take back the Senate too: split a contribution between mine and Theresa’s campaigns now to help us do it.
