Sen. Lucero and Rep. Hudson meeting with Wright County commissioners and staff to discuss county priorities for the 2025 legislative session.

Sen. Lucero Thursday last week in Maple Grove co-leading a community listening session of the Legislative Working Group on Common Interest Communities (CICs) and Homeowners Associations (HOAs).

Dear friends and neighbors,

I hope you had a blessed and warm Thanksgiving despite temperatures outside beginning to plummet! The 2025 legislative session begins January 14th which is quickly approaching. I've begun preparing bills to introduce that prioritize individuals, families, and businesses, and I look forward to protecting individual freedoms and constitutional rights.

Democrats’ Looming Deficit

Over the last two years, Democrats abused their 1-seat majority to grow state government by 40%, and burn through a record approximate $19 billion surplus while they were at it.

Last week, the Office of Minnesota Management and Budget (MMB) announced the fiscal impact of the Democrat Trifecta: $5.1 billion projected deficit in fiscal year 28-29. Moreover, MMB is projecting a $616 million balance at the end of fiscal year 26-27, which is $1.1 billion less than previously forecasted. The evidence is clear, Minnesota’s financial outlook is substantially worse as a result of Democrat control.

Minnesota ranks us near the bottom for individual tax burden as we are the 46th worst state and local tax burden. Individuals, families, and businesses are being crushed in this state. Democrat spending in our state has been out of control for two years, like a runaway train. Thankfully, the Democrat trifecta is broken with Democrats losing majority in the House.

Easing the burden on hardworking Minnesotan bank accounts is among my top priorities. Republicans will continue working hard to limit spending and reduce waste and abuse in state agencies.

Democrats Force Taxpayers to Fund Democrat Private Legal Bills

Tuesday last week, in the dwindling days of the Democrat’s majority in House, Democrats voted unanimously in the House Rules Committee to funnel $10,000 of taxpayer money to pay the private legal bills of a Democrat House member. A complete abuse of power! The full story can be read via Alpha News at the following link here.
