Tom’s daughter lost her best friend to gun violence
Fellow Advocate,
A couple weeks ago, we asked you to share your holiday wish for a life free of gun violence. We’ve gotten such a great response and I wanted to share some incredible stories of how CeaseFirePA supporters are turning their pain into purpose and action.
Nearly four years ago, Milan Loncar, was gunned down while walking his dog near Temple University. Milan was a Temple grad student and best friend to Tom’s daughter Leanna. The robber shot Milan after he gave him the only cash he had. A $20 bill. His small, helpless dog watched him die on an icy road that night.
It’s that moment that led Tom to being one of our top volunteers, photographing everything from Advocacy Day to vigils to an event with the White House and Eagles.
If Tom could be granted any wish this year, it would be to spend one more Christmas with Leanna and Milan together. But since we can’t change the past, I need your help for the next best thing–preventing the next senseless murder.
Tom told me, “you know you’ve done a good job as a parent when your kid picks good friends.” Milan’s friendship with Leanna made Tom feel proud, and like he had served her well. I hope to feel the same way about my daughter’s friends when she becomes an adult.
