Dear John,
As we enter the final weeks of 2024, the NhRP is excited to launch our end-of-year giving campaign [[link removed]] .
Throughout December, we’ll be sharing new stories and analysis from the fight for nonhuman rights–including thoughts from an animal cognition and behavior expert who supports our mission, NhRP attorney Jake Davis’ reflections on what it was like to argue before Colorado’s highest court the same year we experienced the deeply painful loss of our founder (and Jake’s mentor) Steven Wise, highlights of all we accomplished together in 2024, our plans for 2025, and more.
Every donation made now through December 31st will go toward this campaign [[link removed]] . The more we raise now, the more we can accomplish next year! You don’t have to donate in order to access this special content, but we hope you’ll feel inspired to give what you can: today or any time this month. We’re aiming to raise $75,000 before the end of year, and every dollar raised during this time will be matched.

It’s not a coincidence that we’re launching this campaign on Human Rights Day, which marks the 76th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights–adopted by the United Nations to acknowledge the importance of respect for the freedom, equality, and dignity of each individual regardless of “race, color, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth, or other status.” It’s also Animal Rights Day, launched on the same date to emphasize that we need to also respect the freedom, equality, and dignity of nonhuman animals.
Rights protect against wrongs that we as a society have deemed intolerable, such as detaining individuals against their will without sufficient cause or subjecting them to mental or physical torture. All of human history shows that the only way to truly protect human beings’ fundamental interests is to recognize their rights. It’s no different for nonhuman animals. And the NhRP is unique among nonprofits in focusing solely on nonhuman rights, every single day of the year.
If you’d like to donate today, you can do so here [[link removed]] . Thank you for all your support in 2024!

Communications Director, the NhRP

We know a lot of organizations are sending A LOT of emails this time of year, which is why we’ve created a form you can use to select what, if any, end-of-year emails you want to receive from us. Click here [[link removed]] to select the topics you want to hear about. In the new year, you’ll continue to receive all our regular updates. Thank you again, John!
