We’re just a few short weeks away from the end of the year. As we approach 2025, I’d like to once again talk about the critical importance of supporting NCLEJ’s work, now more than ever before.
Since 1965, NCLEJ has been on the forefront of the fight to advance racial, economic, and disability justice for low-income communities. From expanding access to public benefits, to combating unlawful debt collection, to fighting back against racially discriminatory policing practices, our high-impact litigation has benefited hundreds of thousands across the country.
Following the re-election of Donald Trump, our work takes on renewed urgency. The extreme policies of the coming second Trump term will have a major impact on the most marginalized people in our country – the people we serve through our work.
We are preparing for the worst, as we know that one of the Trump administration’s top priorities will be to dismantle what remains of the social safety net and destroy SNAP benefits that help low-income families put food on the table. We can also expect renewed assaults on low-income workers, and a mass deportation initiative against immigrant communities. Our mission is more important now than ever before, and so is our need to secure financial support necessary for us to do the work that must be done starting in January.
The National Center for Law and Economic Justice advances racial and economic justice through ground-breaking impact litigation, policy advocacy, and support for grassroots organizing. We have provided legal representation and support since 1965.
